Privacy

ShopCheckr checks shops, not people. We collect as little as we can.

This website

No accounts, no advertising, no tracking cookies and no third-party analytics. We count page views and searches as daily totals. Our servers keep visitors' IP addresses briefly to stop abuse (rate limits), not to build profiles.

When you search, we look up the shop's address in our database. When you ask us to check a new shop, we visit that shop's public pages; we don't send it anything about you. If checks for new shops are turned on, Cloudflare Turnstile confirms you're a person, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Review requests

If you request a review, we keep the shop, your email, your message and your IP address to answer you and to prevent spam. We don't share them or use them for marketing.

The Android app

The app sends the address of each shop you check, a random device ID and the app version. Your scan history, watchlist and settings stay on your phone. We store device IDs only as a one-way hash in our usage counts, kept for two years.

The browser extension (coming)

The extension will check a page only when you click it. Automatic warnings will be optional, and will compare sites against a list on your computer, so your browsing never leaves your browser.
